Filler correction

Penile filler that is lumpy, faded early, migrated or uneven: how is it fixed?

Penile filler that is lumpy or fading early can be fixed if it is HA. Dr. Kate uses ultrasound to see where the gel sits, dissolves only the problem spots with the enzyme hyaluronidase, then re-injects for an even result.

Common problems and how they are fixed

Fading sooner than expected

Usually from an HA that is too soft, injection into the wrong layer, or too little in one session. Fixed by choosing a firmer HA suited to this area, injecting in planned layers, and topping up gradually.

Lumps or uneven skin

Massage and moulding first. If that does not settle it, targeted dissolving under ultrasound, then re-injection.

Migration to the base, glans, foreskin or scrotum

The migrated gel is dissolved and re-injected in the correct layer. Uncircumcised men may want to discuss circumcision too, because gel often collects in the foreskin.

Asymmetry or an uneven ring

The excess spot is dissolved, then re-injected to blend in.

Later inflammation or lumps

May be infection or an allergic reaction. Treated with medication, and the filler dissolved if needed.

Too large, or unhappy with the result

Part or all of it can be dissolved. This is the advantage of HA over substances that stay in the body for good.

Symptoms that need urgent medical attention

Unusually severe pain, or skin that turns pale, cold or dusky purple, may mean a blocked blood vessel. The filler needs dissolving urgently, and the sooner the better. Call the clinic or go to a hospital immediately. Do not wait and see.

Dissolving and re-injecting, step by step

Examination and ultrasoundShows which layer the filler is in, how thick it is, and whether it really is HA.
Targeted dissolvingHyaluronidase is injected only into the problem spot. Nothing more is dissolved unless it has to be.
Allowing the tissue to settleUsually a few days to 2 weeks, as the doctor schedules it.
Re-injectionThe number of cc and the injection layer are re-planned to suit you.

Frequently Asked Questions

I had filler done at another clinic. Can you correct it?

Yes. The doctor checks with ultrasound first whether it is HA. If it is, it can be dissolved and re-injected. If it is another substance, the approach is different.

Does filler dissolving hurt?

Very little. Local anaesthetic is used, and most men feel only tightness. There may be swelling for a few days after dissolving.

Why did my filler fade so quickly?

Usually the type of HA, the layer it was injected into, the number of cc, or your body breaking it down quickly. The doctor works out which it was, then re-plans so the result lasts longer.
