Filler correction

Lumpy intimate filler: how we dissolve and fix filler that is migrated, uneven or too large

The advantage of HA filler is that it can be corrected. If your intimate filler is lumpy or has migrated, Dr. Kate first locates it precisely with ultrasound, dissolves only the problem spot with the enzyme hyaluronidase, lets the tissue settle, and then re-injects.

Common problems, and how the doctor corrects each one

Lumps or an uneven surface

Massage and moulding first. If that does not resolve it, targeted ultrasound-guided dissolving, then re-injection.

Migrated into the inner labia, groin or thigh

The migrated portion is dissolved, then re-injected in the correct layer and position.

The two sides are uneven

The fuller side is dissolved, or the smaller side added to, so the two sides match.

Too large and visibly prominent through clothing

Partial dissolving to reach the proportions you want. Only possible with HA; permanent substances cannot be adjusted this way.

Faded sooner than expected

Usually down to the type of HA, the layer injected or the volume. The doctor chooses a new type and volume suited to this area.

Inflammation or lumps appearing later

May be infection or allergy. Treated with medication first, with filler dissolved when necessary.

Symptoms that need urgent medical attention

Unusually severe pain, or skin that turns pale, cold or dusky purple, may be signs of a blocked blood vessel, which requires urgent filler dissolving. Contact the clinic or go to a hospital immediately.

Dissolving intimate filler, step by step

Examination and ultrasoundShows where the filler is, how thick it is, and whether it is really HA.
Targeted dissolvingThe enzyme hyaluronidase is injected only into the problem spot. Nothing more is dissolved unless it has to be.
Allowing the tissue to settleUsually a few days to 2 weeks, as the doctor schedules.
Re-injectionThe number of cc and the injection layer are re-planned to suit you.

Why intimate filler becomes lumpy, and how to dissolve it without losing the good part

The advantage of HA is that it can be corrected, but that does not mean it all has to be dissolved every time. Dr. Kate dissolves only the part that is in the wrong place, and keeps the part that is smooth when she can.

Common causes

Injected too shallow, so it feels like beads under the skin. Too much injected in one session, so the gel has nowhere to go and drifts lower down or into the groin. A soft facial filler used in an area that moves and rubs, where it does not hold its shape. Or sex and cycling before the gel had settled. The doctor asks in detail how the previous injection was done, so the new one does not repeat the problem.

What is hyaluronidase, and is it safe?

It is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid so the body can absorb it. It has been used in medicine for a long time. It starts working within hours and the effect is clear in 1–3 days. The main risk is an allergic reaction, which is very rare. The doctor asks about bee-sting allergy first and keeps allergy medication in the room. The enzyme dissolves HA only. It does not dissolve silicone, oil or other types of filler.

Partial or complete dissolving?

If there is a lump in one spot and the rest is smooth, the doctor injects a small amount of enzyme into the lump only, guiding the needle tip with ultrasound. The overall volume stays. If the gel is in the wrong layer across the whole area, the two sides are very different, or the brand is unknown, the doctor usually recommends dissolving it all and starting fresh, which gives a smoother, more balanced result.

After dissolving, and re-injection

Mild swelling for 1–2 weeks. The doctor sees you again at 2–4 weeks with ultrasound to confirm no gel remains, and then you can be re-injected. If new gel goes in before the enzyme has worn off, it gets dissolved too.

Frequently Asked Questions

I had intimate filler elsewhere. Can you correct it here?

Yes. The doctor checks with ultrasound first whether it is HA. If it is another substance, the approach is different.

Does filler dissolving hurt?

Very little. Local anaesthetic is used and most women feel only tightness. There may be swelling for 2–3 days after dissolving.

When can filler be re-injected after dissolving?

Usually a few days to 2 weeks, so the tissue can settle. The doctor sees you first, then re-injects.

My filler has drifted into the groin. Can it be fixed?

Yes, if it is HA. The doctor locates where the gel has collected with ultrasound and dissolves only that spot. The part that is still in the right place is kept.

Will I be flatter than before after dissolving?

With targeted dissolving, volume drops only in that area. With complete dissolving, you return close to how you were before filler. The skin does not sag, because the volume of gel is not enough to stretch the skin permanently.

I was injected with a non-HA filler. Can it be dissolved?

No. Semi-permanent fillers and collagen stimulators do not respond to the enzyme. If they form lumps, the inflammation is treated and targeted surgery considered instead.

How long does it take, and does it hurt?

15–30 minutes including the ultrasound. Numbing cream and a small local anaesthetic injection are used. It feels similar to having filler, but shorter.
